Josie's Sunshine Train

Seattle, WA

Story

Josie's Sunshine Train supports the Mead Gill family as they navigate Josie's upcoming brain surgery which is scheduled for November 17th. Josie hasn't grown but a quarter inch since she was in preschool. Testing late this summer revealed a 3 cm tumor in the center of Josie's brain. The brain cancer review board at Children's Hospital in Seattle got involved and recommended urgent surgery. Because of where the tumor is, they recommended that in addition to the Pediatric neurosurgeon, another surgeon who specializes in the EXACT area of the brain (and who comes from UWMC) perform the surgery together. Because of where the tumor is, there is no way to figure out exactly what kind of tumor it is, so that will have to wait until the day of surgery, which creates a set of unknowns. But one step at a time. Josie is scheduled for surgery and we want to create this page to help support the family as they walk this path. We plan for this page to be dynamic and as circumstances change, we will post updates or identify new things that may be helpful for the family. Thank you for being part of "Team Josie" and for your support of the Mead Gill family. To follow Josie's journey, follow the caringbridge.org site here: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/josiegill
