Julie Rebholz

Brookfield, WI

Story

Hello, and thank you for visiting Julie's Give InKind page. For those unfamiliar, Julie was formally diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) in appx 2019. Julie’s dementia has progressed rapidly over the past couple of years and she recently moved into a memory care facility to better suit her continued safety and ongoing needs. We cannot thank you enough for the assistance provided past, present, and future to Julie, Peter, and our entire family. Whether it has been prayers over the years, going for a walk with Julie, stopping by to watch some Family Feud, playing a game of backgammon or Chinese checkers, bringing dinner or a dessert – the outpouring of love, support, and generosity from family, friends, fellow parishioners, and the community at large that has been shown to our family is one of the lone bright spots in what has been an incredibly difficult journey. While my Dad would love to continue to share news with each and every one of you, this new stage of the disease and treatment plan has made providing frequent updates more complex, emotionally taxing, and unmanageable to relay to the abundance of people who have supported us thus far. We hope that this page will provide updates to the people who have been instrumental in Julie’s life, past and present, while simultaneously provide guidance for how you can best continue to support, help, and understand the complexities of her ongoing care. Putting together a care website is a first for me (and I am sure there will be technical difficulties), but please feel free to call or text Peter Anthony Rebholz 612.695.0354 for assistance with signing up for time slots or to have me sign you up for anything. I truly cannot express the gratitude from our family to yours for the continued support. Love, The Rebholz Family

Special Notes

I met with the Director of Lakewood, and we agreed that Julie's progress no longer requires full-time one-on-one care. Julie has become calmer and more content with her surroundings, with only brief, redirectable "escape episodes." Therefore, we no longer need to have scheduled visitors as was done for the past month. The director was amazed at the great community of friends and family that visited and helped keep Julie safe while she settled in. I, too, am amazed at the blessing bestowed on us through all of your prayers and time commitment to helping both Julie and me adjust to this new reality we find ourselves in. I do not have words to express my gratitude to each of you for your help... and "thank you" sounds so weak.... but those are the only words I can muster, so Thank You! Thank you for your prayers, friendship, and the gift of your time to be with Julie in our time of need. God's love is manifest and most recognizable in the "love of neighbor". NOTE: Visitations are always welcome. Julie will always appreciate visitors I am sure. The point of this update is that you can visit anytime and not just evenings and weekends. However, those times remain helpful because that is the time of reduced staffing. I will leave this "Julie Calendar" running for some time. I feel it is beneficial to sign up to avoid overlapping visitors. 1-2 Visitors at a time is the best but not a mandate, only where Julie is most comfortable. Also, if anyone needs to cancel their time you can edit your page to notify the calendar that this slot is available. May the Blessings of our Lord be upon this community! Thank you all. Peter
