Story
My name is Rani and I am creating this page to help support Makenzie Hayward and her mom Shannon. On April 19th Makenzie was admitted to the hospital due to severe stomach pain. She was released on the 21st from what we were told was a cysts on her ovaries but then was back in the hospital the very next day due to swelling from her leg. On the 25th they scheduled surgery to remove the cysts. That was the day they received the devastating news, it is cancer. She has a sarcoma mass the size of a grapefruit on her abdomen. The doctors took a biopsy on the 26th and released Makenzie from the hospital. Makenzie and Shannon are currently waiting on the results to see the extent of what they will be dealing with. For those of you that do not know Makenzie, she is thirteen years old and attends school in Huntington Beach. Makenzie is the most amazing, kindest person who I ever met. She has a heart of gold and always sees the best in others. She loves art, baking, and every week Makenzie and her mom love to make homemade pasta together. Makenzie and her mom have a long journey ahead of them with treatment. As no child should have to go through this, Shannon has been by Makenzie’s side the whole way. Please help donate anything you can, no amount is too small. This will help support them through this difficult time with medical expenses and lost wages from work. I will be posting updates here as soon as we get them. If you would also like to donate gift cards please reach out to me. Thank you for your support.
