Dale's Road to Recovery

Saint Paul, MN

Story

God’s ways are PERFECT and beautiful, and we praise and thank God for everything! On August 13, Dale experienced a cerebral hemorrhage with cerebral edema and, by God’s generosity, Dale survived! The family is working hard trying to prepare the house for Dale’s return and have also been spending as much time as possible at the hospital to support him. On top of this, Barbara has returned to work to prepare for start of the school year. In rehab, the therapists LOVE Dale because of his positive attitude, thoughtfulness, sense of humor and determination to recover– no surprise here, just Dale being Dale. He continues to work hard at physical therapy to relearn basic skills and movements, Dale’s strength and balance on his left side is a big challenge for him. A major concern has been his inability to swallow effectively and so he’s at a high risk of aspiration. The occupational therapists have been using neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). By strategically placing electrodes with a low-level electric current, they try to activate the muscles used for feeding and swallowing. Thankfully, Dale’s speech is improving. Dale’s heavy cross reminds us that we all need each other. We are so grateful for the prayers, funds, and meals that we have received. Sister Wilhelmena, we pray for Dad's complete healing!
