Story
It all started with a foot. In December of 2023 i was diagnosed with Perineal Tendon Strain. It wasn’t. It wasn’t getting better either, so they offered me cortisone shots, Physical Therapy or an MRI, but without insurance that would be expensive. I opted for the MRI and they found a lesion that was causing my 3rd metatarsal to Fracture. The Journey had begun. People don’t get cancer in their feet normally, unless it came from another primary spot. A biopsy revealed that it was from the lungs. A full body scan revealed it has Metastasis to my Spine, foot and hip. My biopsy tissue was sent off to check its DNA, so we could find a medicine that would work. I began Radiation on the foot, April 24th, to shrink the tumor and allow the bone to heal. The medicine i would be taking is an immunotherapy called Keytruda. I am lucky enough to have had PD-L1 biomarker on the cancer cell so they could use immunotherapy instead of chemotherapy.. on May 9th 2024 i began my Keytruda infusions. On May 11th i felt dizzy and fell from the steps, fracturing my C7… on May 17th i didn’t feel well and went to the hospital. I had blood clots on both lungs, a DVT in my leg and a new lesion on my left frontal lobe. A procedure called an SRS (radiation to the brain) was scheduled, they had to put me on steroids to control brain swelling. Unfortunately steroids and Keytruda cancel each other out . So they zapped me and then began tapering off the steroids. On June 20th i was back in the hospital with a blood clot and a switch to different blood thinners… my updates from here will keep you apprised of the next steps of my adventures. Thank You to all of you wonderful people for all of your help and support, you have no idea how very much it has meant to me 😘
