Story

Surgery: Aug 4th at Duke Raleigh to place a feeding tube into my jejunum (middle of the small intestines) outpatient Currently, my nutrition is mostly intravenous (TPN = total parenteral nutrition) via a central line (Hickman) in my chest but this is high risk for complications, like sepsis, liver damage, & it's faster difficult to manage. I will feed myself as much as possible through this J tube with the goal of decreasing and eventually stopping the IV nutrition. My gut doesn't work well because of a genetic collagen disorder (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, hypermobile type) and associated dysfunction of my autonomic nervous system (controls the things we don't have to think about like heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, temperature control).

Special Notes

All times flexible (after 8am, before 9pm) & are estimated to take ~30 min for gas/water errands &/or home/cat help. We can shift & combine (like home & water by same helper) I can place pick up orders if you let me know what is on your way. You are welcome to hang out, tour the tiny homestead, snuggle the kittens or not.
