Conquer Colorectal Cancer with Hope

Greenville, SC

Story

We created this page to support Hope, Braxton, and Ashlyn as they navigate the difficult treatment journey of her sudden & shocking diagnosis of Metastatic Colorectal Cancer diagnosis on April 4, 2022. This cancer is listed as 'incurable' and on May 2, 2022 she started the most aggressive chemo treatment, FOLFIRINOX - which included 12 treatments done bi-weekly over 6 months, plus a 13th treatment where one drug (Oxciliplatin) was removed due to peripheral neuropathy & toxicity. The first 13 treatments were 3 full days, one in hospital and a 48 hour take home external chemotherapy connected directly to the chest port. After lack of care or other treatment options from the St. Francis Oncology group, Hope found a new provider at Prisma Cancer center in Greenville that was trained in and willing to look at all options to help rid Hope’s body of cancer. This included EGFR Antibody therapy once in November 2022, Iranotecan chemo bi-weekly & surgical installation of an HAI Pump to her abdomen December 2022 in order to deliver FUDR chemo directly to the metastatic liver lesions. Options for Radiation to the rectal origination point, resection of the rectal area and also a liver resection are on the table for 2023. There are a few Interventional Radiation procedures as well should they be needed for the liver now or later down the road. Let’s rally around this family and give generously of our time and efforts as Hope has so graciously done for all us. May we lift them up through this challenge and be with them when they need us most!

Special Notes

FOOD info... NO PORK (bacon OK), NO COOKED BELL PEPPERS, COCONUT, RAISINS or CAULIFLOWER and nothing spicy. (And I can’t believe I have to say this… 😂 no pineapple on pizza 😆 ) The children aren't big fans of casseroles. Salmon, shrimp, fish, veggies and a starch. Some favorites that make a hit with all three of them are: Steak (medium rare), asparagus, salads, beans, mashed potatoes, peas, corn, potato soup, spaghetti, Alfredo pasta w/chicken on the side (because it would be too easy to have each kid eat the same way 😂), angel hair pasta, rice and turkey & cheese sandwiches. Braxton loves: cheeseburgers, tacos, nachos, french fries, mashed potatoes, teriyaki chicken, rice, salads, sausage gravy, biscuits... Ashlyn loves: pasta noodles with butter & parm, mac & cheese, most veggies, mashed potatoes, salad, biscuits with butter or jam, most beans... Some favorites for to-go food: Tropical Chicken Grill, Pad Thai, egg rolls, spring rolls, ramen, burgers, fries, Mac n Cheese. NY Butcher has a good selection of prepared meals they like & simple sub sandwiches & Chick Fil A are always a hit.
