Meals for Bunni and Mike

Hyannis, MA

Story

For those of you who know and love Bunni like we all do here at The Tone Club, I thought this might be a great way to help her out during these very difficult times. For those of you who don't know her I will share her story with you. Bunni is a local fitness instructor/trainer who has helped many people in her 30 years of training here on the Cape. I had the pleasure of meeting her when I moved here almost 10 years ago and began my fitness career. We have joined forces on many occasions for different functions, fundraisers and then ended up working together at a few different fitness facilities. More recently I jumped at the opportunity to hire her at my studio two years ago when I opened my doors at The Tone Club. Bunni was the first one I shared my dream of opening with and of course the first one I went to when I started the hiring process. I was thrilled when she agreed to join me on this journey! She noticed things weren't right pretty much the week of our grand opening when she was having difficulty using the fine motor skills on her right hand. She thought it was carpel tunnel and didn't think much of it. After this persisted for quite some time, she started to realize it may be something more. Throughout the following months she was back and forth to several Doctors and then Specialists to try to determine what was causing this quick progression of various issues that was now moving up her arm into her shoulder. It wasn't until almost a year later that they determined and confirmed her worst fear, it was ALS. Bunni continued to stay positive despite this awful diagnosis and even continued to show up like a rockstar and teach her classes all over the Cape. It wasn't until Covid hit that she decided this was going to be the end of her fitness career. She and her amazing husband Mike live in Hyannis and are making the most of the cards they were dealt. She continues to enjoy life and live everyday to the fullest. It has now gotten difficult for her to move her left arm and it is quickly progressing to her legs. At this time she isn't able to do the things we all take for granted like buttoning our jackets or brushing our teeth. I thought it would be a great idea to help her out with some dinners and show her that we are here to help her and Mike out. You can make dinner or order for them and have it delivered right to their front door. This is a great way to support them and also some of our local restaurants. Thank you all for helping and thinking of our dear friend Bunni. I know she appreciates everyone's support, and so do I!

Special Notes

Here are a few ideas to help with dinner choices that both Bunni and Mike enjoy: beef, chicken, pork, fish (no tuna please), rice, potatoes, fresh veggies (broccoli, green beans, asparagus, brussel sprouts, summer squash, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, peppers, garden salads). They are huge fans of any type of stir fry, shish kabobs, chicken and rice dishes, steak and potatoes. Her favorite drink is La Crema Chardonnay, and also loves chocolate deserts. She loves Sam Diegos and visits there often as well. She would also love for some visitors to come hang out and have a drink with her!
