Story
I've always prided myself on being independent, so it's not often that I find myself reaching out for assistance. However, I'm facing a challenge that I cannot tackle alone. Late last summer, I was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids, which have significantly impacted my quality of life due to constant pain. I've decided that it's time to eliminate the source of the problem. I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy tomorrow, Thursday, March 21. Fortunately, the surgery is minimally invasive and will be performed laparoscopically. Hysterectomies rank as the second most common surgical procedure among women, next only to C-sections. I'm incredibly grateful to have the support and advice of close friends who have undergone this surgery in recent years. Their insights have been a tremendous help as I prepare for my own procedure. Additionally, my dear friend CC will be by my side during the initial recovery days, offering the support I need. I anticipate a recovery period of 2-3 weeks, after which I expect to get back to light remote work, walking and swimming.
Special Notes
If a date isn't available I already have someone committed to help me out. Meals I'm told the first few days are pretty blurry. Suggestions include light soups, broths, popsicles and ice cream. After that I'm open to meals of any kind - I love just about everything (limit the raw onions please)! Nothing beats a home cooked meal, but delivery would also be fantastic, either in person (hang out if I'm up for it), or from a service. Below are few of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood for those who want to pickup or send meals. Most restaurants have some means of ordering direct, or you can use delivery apps: Ki Sushi (on Smith St.) Boran Rucola Bedoin Tent Court St. Grocers Kuun Mazzat Shan Tacombi Kitty Care (any time even though the schedule says noon) I will need daily help feeding Sachi her wet food and changing her kitty litter. Chores (aka Home Services any time) I will need help doing laundry and taking out the trash. There's a washer and dryer in the basement of my building. Thank you all!
