Jay's Cancer Journey

Story

Hello my name is Megan Payton I am making this page on behalf of my dad Jay Nolan who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 urothelial transition cell carcinoma and is just beginning his cancer journey. Myself and my siblings and stepmom are trying to help as much as we can while he goes through this process, but with everything that has happened Jay has been out of work since basically October of of 2023 so we are just looking for support in anyway possible, whether it is a meal here or there, a gift card for gas or groceries, or even just a prayer for our family. After many months of unexpected and incontrollable set back Jay was finally able to get in the see a urologist in February 2024 who gave him the news that there was a mass. They would need to go in and biopsy it then move forward from there. Once again unseen circumstances (Covid) pushed that biopsy back even more. Finally being able to get the get the biopsy done, we got the news that the biopsy was undetermined so Jay had 2 options, a more invasive biopsy, or to take out his kidney. After talking with the urologist it was decided that they would remove his kidney and do a strong dose of chemo just to be safe. We were told this would taKe about 4-6 weeks before surgery, then he got the call it was in 6 days ( YAY) Unfortunately when they went in to remove the kidney they found 2 more masses, ,on in the lymph nodes. All 3 tumors were taken out and they still opted to do the strong dose of chemo. We finally had a diagnosis of stage 4 urothelial transition cell carcinoma After meeting with the oncologist it was decided that more scans needed to be done to make sure that it is infact stage 3 not stage 4. There are still many things unknown and as we find out more we will keep this updated. This is all new territory for all of us and we all need the support to help my dad win his battle with cancer.
