Showering Julie with Love

Laurel, MD

Story

We started this page to allow all those who care about Julie Tuinstra to share their love. We will post information for all to stay updated on her treatment and needs. Julie was diagnosed suddenly with leukemia last May. After her diagnosis, she and her family have spent the rest of the year adjusting to the new normal of life with Julie in and out of the hospital when she was receiving inpatient chemotherapy treatments. In November, Julie received a bone marrow transplant. Time in the hospital after the transplant was extremely difficult, but she really did so well. Even though the first month was challenging, the hardest part as being away from family. Julie was able to return home just before Christmas. Being home has proven to be good medicine, but the healing process continues. Julie has been on her own without a caregiver for three weeks now. She loves feeling like she is once again contributing to her family, but it’s not without its toll. She’s learning quickly that she still needs to listen to her body and rest often. Although her energy is improving, she has limits. Please reach out, text preferred, to Justine at 808-358-5904 if you have questions or ideas!
