Helping Holden

Ralston, NE

Story

Holden became ill in Mid July with fevers and a rash. He was sent to Boys Town Hospital where he was first diagnosed with Neonatal Lupus, Enterovirus, Rhinovirus, and Anemia. The fevers kept getting worse leading to seizures which led to his current stay at Children's Hospital in the PICU and now a bed in the med surg unit. While he was in the PICU he was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis with seizures. He is doing much better but still on the antibiotics and seizure meds. He is planned to leave the hospital on August 21st, after a 3-week stay for him! We know for sure he will leave the hospital on anti-seizure medication. This entire time Kylie and Eric have not been able to work as they need to be by Holden's side thru his hospital stay. Due to Covid19 restrictions, no one is allowed to help with the bedside stays to give Eric and Kylie much of a break away from the hospital. They are both taking 12 hr shifts at this point. Once Holden is home with mommy, Eric will be able to go back to work, that is the plan. Any help with prepared meals/dinners, restaurant, and HyVee gift cards is greatly appreciated. Any monetary donations would be even more greatly appreciated as Kylie has been on maternity leave since April and Eric has taken a 3-week break from work. I can imagine a 3-week hospital stay two ER visits and an Ambulance ride is going to be a rather large medical bill for them to pay off plus any medications that Holden will need. Holden will also have future medical costs as he will be under the supervision of his team of Dr's after leaving the hospital. Any financial donations can be sent to Kylie and Eric via Venmo or Paypal. The Paypal link can be found above. Their Venmo link is @Kylie-Ahlers.

Special Notes

No sick visitors please. Please call or text prior to stopping by the Ahlers' home, please give a 6 hr notice. We will be adding a "help needed" section once Holden gets home. I am sure Kylie and Eric will be busy with getting back to work and taking care of Holden. Kylie may need help running errands, getting groceries and possibly cleaning her home until she gets things worked out and in a schedule with the baby being home.
