Susie & Joe Smith

Alexandria, VA

Story

On the night of September 14, Joe and Susie were returning home from a friend's surprise 75th birthday celebration. About three miles from home, another driver ran a stop sign, leading to a collision that left Susie with four fractured ribs. But God! Despite undergoing three surgeries involving her spleen, stomach, and a torn diaphragm—along with the need for a breathing tube—Susie has triumphed over these challenges. Thankfully, Joe suffered only minor chest pain and discomfort. Praise be to God! Hallelujah! After a couple weeks in a rehabilitation facility, Susie is finally set to return home. At this time, as Joe steps into the role of primary caregiver, they would be grateful for any help with meals. Please check the calendar and sign up for a day if you're willing and able. Please review the dietary restrictions listed in the 'Special Notes' section. Given the extent of Susie’s injuries, if you're dropping off items, please give them a heads up that you are on the way, and please limit your visit to no more than 20 minutes, as she is still experiencing discomfort and is in the healing process. She is also on a strict Physical Therapy schedule, as a result, you may be dropping off food during one of her sessions since the schedule can change and won't be finalized after this page was created. Thank you so much for your kindness and support—it is greatly appreciated.❤️

Special Notes

Dietary Restrictions Susie is unable to have foods with high potassium; bananas, potatoes and sweet potatoes, dried fruits, oranges, avocados, tomatoes and tomato-based products (but in low moderation). Joe is a regular meat and potatoes kinda guy; he'll eat pretty much anything, and BOTH are lactose intolerant.
