Showering Lauren With Love As She Battles Cancer

Carthage, MO

Story

So..as many of you know Mike and I are very private people. With this being said we have notified our close friends and family and feel we can post what has been going on here so we can share efforts of our dear friends. I'll give you all the short version. I (Lauren) had been having trouble with vision in my left eye. I disregarded it as sinus pressure on my ocular nerve or bad contact lenses. I took allergy meds and change lenses 4 times. I finally realized I am not the smartest nurse ever and told Mike I was going to my eye doctor. At that appointment he thought I had a detached retina and sent me to Springfield for surgery. I lied..this is not the short version. When we were up there the specialist asked if I'd ever had cancer, ummm..hard NOPE I am 39 years old! He then informed us I have a tumor in the tissues behind my eye and it is leaking fluid pushing my retina out which caused the mis diagnosis and vision loss. We then were referred to OU medical because there are only 15 of these oncologist in the nation and last Tuesday we got the confirmation I have meglignant cancer in my L eye. Only 1 in a million get this cancer so I am damn special. It is inoperable and I am scheduled for radiation on August 5th-9th at OU Medical. We are not ones to ask for anything ever and all WE ask for are prayers. We have good and bad days. 💛

Special Notes

Lauren is allergic to oats of any kind. The family does not eat fish.
