Story
Kathleen "Kathy" M. Auel Obituary Kathleen Marie (Trcka) Auel, 57, was born on May 30, 1967 in Ames, Iowa. Kathy was the youngest of four children to Evon (Frette) and Frank M. Trcka. A graduate of Ames High School, class of 1985, Kathy went on to attend Waldorf College before returning to Ames in 1987. For over 30 years, she dedicated her career to Sigler in Ames where she became not only a valued member, but a beloved friend to many. Kathy married the love of her life, Randy S. Auel, on October 20, 1990. Together they built a fantastic life and raised two wonderful children, Daniel, born December 5, 1992 and Nicole, born June 9, 1997. Kathy’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and she was very proud of her family. She was always giving unwavering support, positivity, forgiveness, and always her devoted love. Kathy was always moving and looking for the next source of fun for herself and her family. She would always find an adventure to go on, whether walking, hiking, or helping family or friends. She was excited to do anything and everything – fishing trips, a cruise, and just getting away to a family or friends for the evening in front of a fire pit, drinking Margaritas and making S’Mores. Kathy was generous and her kindness was always evident. She made a tradition of spreading joy during the Christmas season in Ames by handing out new socks, including a candy cane, to passers-by. Her thoughtfulness and nurturing made everyone around her feel welcome and special. Kathy is survived by her husband, Randy; her children, Daniel (Jess) and Nicole (Ty); her siblings, Susan Taege, Frank E. Trcka (Marleah), and Patricia Taylor (Daryl); many nieces and nephews; and her many friends that were touched by her warmth and kindness. Kathy’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was always around to lend a helping hand and share her thoughts, and that and so much more will always be part of her memories. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 9, 2024 at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 1517 Northwestern Ave., Ames. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for Kathy's family at www.adamssoderstrum.com.
