Loving LeRoy

Campbellsport, WI

Story

Dad came to the ER on 8/7 after 2 falls on 4th. He came in due to dizziness and pain that made him unable to get out of bed. He was found to have 3 broken ribs and a torn rotator cuff and was admitted for pain control. And we are still here in the hospital with him 2 full weeks later. A series of unfortunate events led us here. Dad was amazing. He fought so hard to get better. Even after declaring “no more surgeries” for years, he agreed to a pacemaker placement and even was considering surgery for a bowel obstruction if it was needed. Dad is at a point where we think it is best to bring him home where he wants to be and he has been begging us to take him. We have all promised him that is where he would be at the end. We hope and pray selfishly that he gets home, feels better being home and is able to improve there. But we know he is tired, his body is tired and he has fought a good fight. He fought more than I thought he would. I remember over the years that dad had said he never wanted to live to be this age. Over the past few weeks at the hospital I have heard him say “I want to live!” Even targeting at least 90. We love this man so much. We want him home where he wants to be and as comfortable and peaceful as he can be. Between the kids and grandkids, we have a lot of people who can pitch in on helping mom with dad, ensuring he can stay home. If anyone else wants to pitch in, spend some time with mom, or bring out some food for her, we would appreciate it all!
