Support for the Cruz Family

Grand Junction, CO

Story

Thank you for taking the time to read my parents story. My father Dan Cruz has declined in health in the past four years after going through extensive radiation treatments for Prostate Cancer. He is currently in remission! Since the treatments he has lost tons of weight, developed losing some memory and is now struggling with edema in his legs. In the past year he has overcome many wounds that formed from his swelling. I currently take care of him 3 days a week in massaging his legs and wrapping them. He isn’t moving around as much as before which keeps him from doing what he loves. He sleeps more throughout his day as well. He is also developing cadaracts in both eyes along with needing dentures. We are currently working towards savings for these appointments. My father has always been a prideful man with his family, which is hard at times as he is the soul provider. This leads me to my mom Janelle Cruz was diagnosed with a terminal illness in 2011, it is called Scleroderma. As her illness progresses she has been subjected to a lifetime of oxygen supply, insulin administration, and new diagnoses. Alongside the Scleroderma she suffers from diabetes, Raynauds, and now AFib. AFib was the scariest part as it just happened on 9/17/24. As I have helped maintain their lifestyle the past four years, I hate to say it’s going to take an army to continue helping them. Including giving me the opportunity to keep myself healthy. Every day is a day not promised with them, I just want to keep them comfortable and stress free as long as possible. As us children carry on with our busy schedules we are not as available to make sure they need meals prepared, house upkeep, and medical management. At this point I am at a loss and coordinating any help we/they receive is so wonderful and greatly appreciated.

Special Notes

They are both on a no salt diet and no caffeine.
