ATLANTA, GA

Story

Tanisha has been serving her community for the last twenty years. She has worked in both education (Title I schools) and human service in Atlanta’s most vulnerable communities. She has helped hundreds of women and children through transitions and toward more stable and satisfying lives. After years of professional work, she made the decision to return to graduate school in order to gain the advanced knowledge necessary to enhance her ability to serve her community. This is an exciting time, but it is not without its challenges. As a single income household, Tanisha is the sole provider for her family. Tanisha has managed to earn over $7000 in grants and scholarships to go toward the cost of her education. However, there is still a financial gap. In order to complete the requirements for a Masters of Social Work degree, Tanisha is required to complete an unpaid internship during the Fall of 2019 and the Spring of 2020. This will not only affect her ability to work full time but will also require that she be away from home working long hours. If you believe in Tanisha and want to support her and Khairi’s during this time, please consider giving a gift.
