They Were Still Born: Personal Stories About Stillbirth
In 2006, Janel Atlas' daughter, Beatrice Dianne, was stillborn at 36 weeks. Reaching out for comfort she found a dearth of information on stillbirth. As a result, she developed a collection of essays by writers sharing their firsthand experiences with stillbirth. The result is this collection of essays by mothers and their family members about the impact of stillbirth on a growing family.
In addition, there are selections that answer many of the medical questions families have in the wake of a stillbirth. Grieving parents will find in these pages the comfort of knowing they are not alone.
Why We Love This Gift: We love this gift because it is so critical for mothers and fathers of stillborn children to understand that they are not alone. The stories of others are brutal-ful gifts because they show us that, while each loss is unique, that an understanding community does exist to help.
What To Express in Your Card: I love you. I want so much to comfort you.
