My brother Jose recently spent two months in the hospital courageously fighting for his life after major surgery. Just as he began to recover, our family suffered an unimaginable loss — his daughter, Shirley Alvelo, passed away on October 21, leaving behind her precious 3-month-old baby girl, Athena.
