On October 4, 2021, Jonathan Grant Marmer, affectionately known as Grant, was diagnosed with High Risk Hodgkin Lymphoma. He had just started his 6th grade year at Weddington Middle School and playing for the football team when his family first noticed his symptoms. It’s been a whirlwind 2 weeks for this sweet family and I know many family and friends want to wrap them up in love and support. Grant’s parents are Abe and Melanie Marmer. Grant’s older brother, Drew, is a junior at Weddington High School. There are so many ways to send love to the Marmers, through meals and gift cards. We have started a bit slow with the meal delivery as the family settles into their new reality and we see where they can use the most help. Thank you so much for all of the kind words, encouragement and sweet gestures you all have given thus far. Times like these are when we really see how much we are loved and cared for by our community. Special Notes
Hello friends! After speaking with the Marmer’s, we found it best to do start a gift card donation for them. They will be in the hospital with Grant beginning this Monday, October 11th, while he receives his first week of Cycle 1 treatments. Grant will receive 6 months of chemotherapy, with each round consisting of a month long cycle, with numerous visits to the St. Judes Clinic for infusions and check-ins. I have listed some favorite places that they like to eat at near home and Hemby/St. Judes. They can just step out and get some fresh air and some non-hospital food. Restaurants near home: 1. Shake Shack 2. Chipotle 3. La Unica Indian Trail 4. Chick Fil A 5. Brooklyn Pizza/Mario’s/Portofino’s Restaurants near hospital: 6. Viva Chicken 7. Midwood Smokehouse 8. Sabor Latin Street Grill 9. Mama Ricotta’s 10. Smashburger Gas cards: Shell or BP Grocery cards: Harris Teeter, Trader Joe’s General: Visa or Amazon Dietary restrictions include seafood & under-cooked meats. All gift cards can be mailed or dropped off under the door mat. There will be a clear plastic envelope there for it labeled “thank you for the gift cards.” Their home address: 2424 Greenbrook Pkwy. Weddington, NC 28104 Meals can be dropped off anytime b/w 5-6:30pm.(see care calendar below). A cooler and small plastic table have been placed on front porch for meal drop off.
