Story

Hi, my name is Keya, and I’m a single mother to a wonderful teenage son who has Down Syndrome. I never thought I’d be here—asking for help—but life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges our way. Right now, I’m doing everything I can to keep a roof over our heads and hold on to our only mode of transportation. Our Story A few months ago, I lost my job due to company downsizing. Since then, I’ve been searching nonstop for work that fits around my son’s unique needs. He attends a year-round school program and has regular medical and therapy appointments that are crucial for his growth and development. Unfortunately, those commitments make it nearly impossible to maintain a traditional full-time schedule. I’ve always worked hard and taken pride in providing for my family, but as the bills piled up, I used every bit of my savings to stay afloat—covering our mortgage, car payments, and essential care for my son. Despite my best efforts, I had to file for bankruptcy, and now I’m facing the devastating possibility of losing our home and our car. Why This Means So Much Our home isn’t just a house—it’s where my son feels safe, where we’ve built our memories, and where he thrives best in his familiar routines. Our car isn’t just transportation—it’s how we get to school, therapy, and doctor visits that are vital to his health and progress. Losing either one would be life-altering for us both. How You Can Help I’m humbly asking for help to catch up on our mortgage and car payments while I continue looking for steady, flexible work. Your kindness will help us keep our home, our car, and the stability my son desperately needs. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to security. And if you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this page—spreading the word truly makes a difference. From My Heart This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. But I believe in the power of compassion and community. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your generosity, and for reminding us that we’re not alone in this fight. With heartfelt gratitude, Keya
