Support the Schmelzles

Saint Charles, MO

Story

Although she has recovered from most of her injuries and made big progress, the break to Jessica's Femur (thigh bone) has failed to heal. She will undergo another major surgery to repair it on October 13th, and her family could use your help. Jessica will have a two night hospital stay, and 3-6 weeks of initial recovery time. She will have limited mobility, be mostly confined to one level of her home, and be unable to drive or participate in most family routines. With no family in the area, Jessica's husband, Tommy, will be shouldering all of the parenting and household duties while she recovers. Many friends and family have been asking how they can help, and Jessica and Tommy have determined that meals being provided is one of the best ways to support them. Taking meal planning, meal prep, and meal clean up responsibilities off of Tommy's plate for the first few weeks after Jessica's surgery will ease much of his burden. You can USE THE CARE CALENDAR BELOW TO SIGN UP FOR A DATE between 10/13 and 11/7. Any support you provide will be greatly appreciated by Jessica, Tommy, Lydia, Grant, and Isaac! Jessica will post updates here to keep loved ones informed of her surgery recovery and progress. Please keep her and the whole family in your prayers. Prayers for skilled surgeons, minimal pain, a quick return of full mobility, and FULL healing of the bones in her leg are greatly appreciated. How Jessica got Injured: Jessica was involved in a serious car accident on January 31, 2025. She was hit head-on by another driver going nearly 75 MPH on her way home from work on HWY 79. Jessica faced a long hospitalization, internal and orthopedic injuries, rehab/PT, and learning to stand/walk again.

Special Notes

There are no allergies in the Schmelzle family, but most family members prefer food without mushrooms. They generally eat lower carb meals, but will enjoy anything you provide!
