Recently, our lives were shifted by three words no one is ever prepared to hear — especially in their 30s: "You have cancer." Sarah has been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this news has been heavy and disorienting, we have already seen glimpses of God’s goodness in the midst of the scans, tests, and waiting. As we move from the initial shock into the reality of treatment and surgery, we realized we needed a central place to keep all of you, the people who love and care for us, informed. We’ll this page to share updates on Sarah’s journey and to let you know how you can best support our family as our needs change. We are profoundly grateful for the ways you have already shown up, not by trying to fix the situation, but by simply being present with us in the middle of it all. Thank you for standing with us. With love, Sarah & Luke
Best Ways to Help Right Now: Right now, Luke's parents have moved from Ontario to help during the first phase of chemo. This has most of our day-to-day logistics and child-care covered, but we would appreciate support in the following ways: Meals: Between treatment schedules, side effects, and keeping the kids’ lives moving, the mental load of meal planning is one of the first things to go. Having a meal show up or a delivery gift card on hand is a huge help and means we have one less thing to figure out. You can sign up for our mealtrain to provide a meal or a gift card here: https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/gz7zge Supporting our GoFundMe: We're grateful to live in a country where the large majority of our healthcare costs are covered, but even those costs taken care of, there are many remaining out of pocket expenses. Between prescription copays, extra childcare, lost income or even just a few comfort items for Sarah, we appreciate any support you'd like to give. You can find the GoFundMe link on this page, or feel free to reach out if you'd prefer to use e-transfer or another method.
