November 14th, 2025, will always be a big day for my family and me. I went to the ER for a persistent cough, and my breathing had been off, so I was thinking I needed an antibiotic, and then I was given some much larger news than I ever thought. I was told I had cancer and that I was being transferred to a larger hospital with an oncology unit. It was a whirlwind....more of a tornado, honestly... Within days , I was biopsied and diagnosed with estrogen-positive breast cancer that has traveled and pneumonia to go along with it.... Within a week, I had started developing my 'Standing with Jana Dean" support team: Incredible doctors, integrative therapies, a physical therapist , a coach, and at the top of the list, my family and all of my friends. Since the treatment plan is now in place, I felt like it was a good time to share and move out of my hibernation/survival mode. But that is exactly what my body needed and was doing, so I listened to it, and I appreciate all of your patience so much! The treatment plan with Fred Hutch, right now, is an estrogen inhibitor and a targeted, specific chemo, both in pill form, which I feel really good about. Plus, the other cool stuff, from mindset work to alternative therapies, which will heal me completely. And I am. Of all the wonderful treatments that lie ahead, I know it is the medicine of LOVE from God, my family and friends, and even strangers, that is THE most healing. Your messages have flooded in, and I received every one of them with such gratitude. I needed you all, and you showed up big time, and you still are. Forever grateful and still in awe of it all.
I am on a specific eating plan during this healing, so the meals are for Dave and the kids. They love everything and get so excited when people bring food!
