Mom is in a skilled nursing facility in Carlinville. Address is 751 N. Oak Street. Room A6. Her roommate is Millie and she's mostly deaf. She's very kind. They accept visitors 24 hours a day. You will need a code when you leave. It is the date, mmyy*. For example, June code will be 0626* and July will be 0726*. This code needs to be entered before you open the door to leave. This helps patients to not get out on accident. Please check the special notes so you know what not to bring when you visit. Meals are 730am, 12pm, 530pm. For $5, you can eat with her but they need to be alerted when you arrive so the kitchen can make you a plate. You can also bring your own meal to eat with her. She has therapy after breakfast so afternoon and evening are probably better as she's tired after therapy. Please remember, she's frustrated. She's not going to sit and chat like she used to. She can take a minute to get words out so don't rush her and be patient. Sometimes she's all smiles and sometimes she's frustrated and doesn't want to have conversations so we sit and watch TV for a bit. Please ask before you just do things to her or for her. She needs her autonomy back. This means, don't just paint her nails or brush her hair etc. It's a lot of watching her body language right now. If she's fidgety, maybe she wants the light off or she's hot. If you have questions, feel free to reach out and ask. Things she likes, lotion on her feet and legs but remember to ask first. We have stocked her room with things but if you notice she's out of something, please reach out. She needs visitors and positive vibes right now. She needs dignity and autonomy. She needs compassion not condescension. We all need to remember that her journey is between her and Creator and they might decide that rehabilitation isn't what is needed and she just needs to be loved and comforted.
She is diabetic, please don't bring sugary treats. She is a choking risk, please don't bring hard candy or things for her to chew.
