Our Situation: Bella, our Pittie-Lab mix, suddenly came down with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), a severe spinal condition. We tried treating it with medication, but it rapidly escalated to the point where she couldn't even walk up two small stairs. It was terrifying! We had to make a spur-of-the-moment decision to move forward with immediate spinal surgery to prevent her from being permanently paralyzed. Thanks to her amazing veterinary surgical team, Bella is back home where she belongs! She has been home for a week now and is currently on strict crate rest, up to 12 weeks followed by the possibility of rehabilitation. About Bella: If you know Bella, you know she is the ultimate 7-year-old Pittie Lab mix cuddle bug. She is incredibly loyal, lives for family snuggles, and handles life best when she is surrounded by the people she loves. Bella is the truly a “Velcro” dog. Every time we come home, she’s right there to greet us at the door with a sock or a slipper in her mouth. She loves to sleep next to her mom or dad! Bella’s other favorite things are nesting in soft blankets, zoomies in the yard, and soft Buddy Biscuits. To ensure she received this life-saving surgery without delay, the medical expenses had to be placed on an emergency financing account. It is a very unexpected financial hurdle for our family, but we are doing everything we can to keep her comfortable and get her back to her usual happy, snuggly self. So many incredibly kind friends and Family members have asked how they can support us during this stressful time. We set up this page to give everyone options, as keeping our daily life running smoothly helps us focus entirely on keeping Bella calm, quiet, and healing. If you are able and would like to help, we thank you. Thank you all so much for your love, kind words, and support. Bella is our whole world, and knowing we have a community in our corner during this long recovery means everything to us. With heartfelt thanks, Jessica, Matt, Callen, Annalise, Bella Cutter
At this time we have limited visitation for Bella due to keeping her calm so she doesn’t jump and re-injure herself.
