On behalf of Shelley and Nadine, a huge thank you for accepting the invitation to this site where updates on their health and requests for support will be posted. For the moment, the request is for nutritious meals to be delivered to them but we will soon include other help (as needs arise) such as rides to appointments, visits, grocery shopping, etc. So please check in often to see how you can pitch in to support our beloved friends. And for those who are far away, just sending your love and knowing that you are out there means a great deal. For some context: In October of 2025 Shelley had a stroke which left her with some impairment in her left arm. She also contends with ongoing congestive heart failure and has had two operations (April and June) to put in a pacemaker/defibrillator. She currently can’t drive and has limited use of her left arm, although she should be able to drive again in the near future. For now, Shelley has limited energy, gets short of breath and needs to move slowly. (She definitely still has her sense of humor!) In February, Nadine had symptoms that led to a diagnosis of a fast growing uterine cancer and she began chemo in March. Currently, she is on her fifth of six chemotherapy infusions and they should end in July. She will then have a third PET scan and will figure out next steps with her oncologist. Nadine needs a great deal of sleep and can find it hard to focus but she is hopeful that some of the side effects will end soon. In her words - “I’m feeling pretty bad and sad (to keep it simple) and, as I’ve said in these last few weeks, I am so grateful for all the love and support we have gotten. From the emotional to the practical (for real, for real). I know we couldn’t do this without you. And for those of you who are just hearing about this and being included now, just knowing that you are thinking of us gives me great comfort.” It is, of course, a very difficult and vulnerable time. Shelley and Nadine both find it difficult to eat well and get enough nutrition. They’ve both lost significant amounts of weight (especially Nadine) and can forget to eat. This is where we come in! Below is a calendar where you can sign up to bring them a meal and an important note with their dietary needs. Also, you can send them a DoorDash gift card so they can choose a meal by choosing a meal date and then clicking on "gift card." Because both Shelley and Nadine have very limited energy, they request that food be left in the cooler in front of their house at any time before 6:30pm. Please don't knock on the door as they may be resting. Text Shelley at (510) 390-6609 to let her know when you have delivered food. They hope that you understand and not take personally their need to limit visitors at this time. Please do feel free to leave them a message though. You'll find that option at the bottom of the page, under the calendar. With much gratitude, - Team Shelley/Nadine
