Helping Pookie Darrough on his journey to fight Stomach Cancer.

St. Paul, MN

W
Story

This past December, our lives were shattered when Pookie was admitted to the hospital due to extreme pain in his stomach. During his stay, the medical team found what would be later confirmed as stage four stomach duodenal cancer, adenocarcinoma metastatic abdominal lymp node, malignant neoplasm of the liver, and blood clots in his legs. Since receiving his diagnosis, Pookie has also been hospitalized after having a stroke, has had an infection in his stomach, and has had 20+ blood transfusions. All of this on top of radiayion, appointments weekly for immune therapy, and other appointments with his medical team to coordinate his ongoing care, which will include starting chemotherapy Monday March 30th. Understanably, Pookie has been physically unable to work and Sasha has had to take leave from work to provide his care and stay by his side during medical treatments and hospital stays. Thankfully, our immediate family and friends have assisted with the care of their son as well as their nephew and niece, whom they have been raising following the untimely passing of Pookie's sister Rebecca in December 2022. As you can imagine, this situation has caused immense stress in the lives of Pookie and his loved ones, so we are reaching out to ask his extended family, friends and wider community members, to assist Pookie and his family meet their basic daily needs (mortgage, utilities, meals, household necessities, transportation, etc). We have created a CaringBridge for you all to follow for health/life updates about Pookie. You can follow it here: https://tinyurl.com/yfr4msrv
