Loving on the Lanphears

W
Story

From Tom about Monday (8/3) night fall on stairs (about 4 or 5 stairs): "Kim's booby trap to take me out while she was gone didn't go as she planed. Instead I have two staples in my head to repair a cut, sprained left shoulder, sprained right wrist, fractured spine at T2 (top of shoulder blade) and L2 (a few inches above my hip), and stressed out back muscles. Limitations right now are no BLT- bending, lifting, twisting. Walk only with assistance of a walker and TSLO brace (turtle shell) around the torso. In home PT starts tomorrow and comes twice a week. Next check on spine in four weeks for CT scans. Likely four more weeks after that on same protocol as above. Then maybe start some exercises without medical devices. It's cumbersome, more limiting than I thought, and painful when not followed. Everything I CAN do is slower, awkward and tiring (sharing in case you fleetingly thought about trying it to find out what it's like). Will take small steps and slowly more on from that. Good news - no surgery, I'm alive, and can risk it happening again. Thank you all for your concerns, best wishes, and interest in how I'm doing. Kim has been awesome in all respects with medical, emotional, physical and now home needs. I am very blessed that the same person who tried to take me out is helping me recover."
