Ten years ago, I lost my husband to cancer. Since then, I’ve been raising my daughter alone. Over the past several years, both of us have developed serious chronic illness from mold exposure and Lyme disease, compounded by repeated COVID infections. My daughter has a positive Lyme test and also developed PANS. She was critically ill last year and in and out of the hospital. I have not yet been tested for Lyme, but I live with many overlapping symptoms and chronic illness from mold and long COVID, along with dysautonomia. Each time we begin to stabilize, we face new mold re-exposures — including at her school — which forces us to move again. This has left us in a constant housing crisis, desperately searching for safe places to live where we won’t get sicker. Because of my own health struggles and inability to sustain steady work, we are now in a severe financial crisis on top of the medical and housing struggles. It has been devastating to try to keep us safe and afloat on my own. I am asking for help because I cannot do this alone anymore. We urgently need: Safe, mold-free housing options. Financial support or resources for families in crisis. Community connection and encouragement. Any help, advice, or support you can offer would make a life-changing difference for my daughter and me.
