Supporting Kadence’s Living Donor Journey

Story

Kadence has always been the kind of person who would give anything to help someone in need. She has one of the biggest, kindest hearts of anyone I know, and when she learned that a friend’s dad was sick and in need of a kidney, she did not hesitate to step forward. For Kadence, the decision was simple. Her mindset was, she only needed one kidney, so she saw no reason not to donate the other to save someone else’s life. What followed was a long process of medical appointments, screenings, and multiple rounds of testing. After all of that, she received the incredible news that she had been approved as a donor and was able to donate directly. It truly felt like everything had fallen into place the way it was meant to. While becoming a living donor is an amazing gift, it also comes with challenges that many people do not see. One of the biggest financial burdens is that not all lost income is covered during recovery. Kadence works as a waitress at Texas Roadhouse, and because a large part of her earnings come from tips, those wages are not fully considered for reimbursement. As the primary income provider for her household, time away from work creates a real financial strain. This page is being created to help make sure Kadence has the time she needs to heal without the added stress of worrying about bills, meals, and daily expenses. The goal is not for her to financially benefit from this experience, but simply to make sure her household is supported and that she has access to warm meals and the care she needs while recovering. If you would like to support Kadence during this time, there are several ways to help: - Donations can be made through GoFundMe - Gift cards can be provided for meals or essentials on this page using Care Card. - Contributions can also be sent directly to Kadence through Venmo or Cash App Any support, whether financial or through sharing this page, means so much. Kadence is making an extraordinary sacrifice to give someone else a second chance at life, and we want to help carry some of the burden for her while she recovers. Thank you for supporting Kadence and for being part of her journey.
