. STORY: There are no words to describe the excruciating pain I experienced on Saturday night. When you hear the bone break, you know it can't be good🤭. I was taken by ambulance to @snoqualmievalleyhealth hospital. Upon arrival, I had a couple of x-rays and eventually a splint. The final prognosis was not just one bone break, but at least two and bone displacements. Both the tibia and fibula near the ankle broke. By the time we got home with our 'marching orders. Surgery was Friday, April 3rd. My angle and bones are put back together, and with some help from new ‘hardware’ installed during the procedure 🤦♀️🦴I had one of the best doctor/orthopedic surgeons for the surgery (he's on the medical staff for the Seattle Seahawks), and am now in the recovery phase. And yes, I am still in a lot of pain. And if this isn't crummy enough, our Spring Break trip to sunny and warm had to be CANCELED!!! Doctor's Orders🤣. Double whammy!! In the meantime, it's going to be a slow recovery road ahead, and a toll on Darren and Danica. He is doing an amazing job but juggling between playing dad, cook, chauffeur, a 24-hour nurse , grocery shopper...you name it. it's a lot. It's going to be a tough few weeks and the recovery has only just begun. ***This is MY ask and disclaimer.*** If you know Darren/my husband, you know he is NOT one to ask for help, even in extreme circumstances. Since this is an extremely unusual situation, I am taking the initiative to reach out to all who know us. Or, even if you don’t know us well, but want to help and support us in some way. Any help or relief would be great (mostly for Darren) in the next several weeks. I don’t want to sound selfish or greedy, but this is uncharted territory for us all and we are trying to adjust to it. Since HE won’t ask, you may have to just DO. Whether meals rough/sent to us (frozen, store bought, restaurant cards, homemade etc), or shopping for day to day essentials…all would be acceptable. One less thing for Darren or Danica to have to decide on our end, the better. If you don’t know what would be most helpful, maybe think of a time when you were in need of help, didn’t know what to ask but that “some thing (big or small) “ was really helpful to you. Even if it’s just to come by and say hello, it would give Darren (and Danica if needed) some relief. I don’t know what the answer is. This is MY ASK, from the comfort of my couch with an ankle in an elevated position. It will be at least 4+ weeks until I put any weight on my foot/leg, and the journey has only just begun. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any kindness you share.
We do not have any allergies, or dietary restrictions. We have a pretty broad palette for food, so will eat most things (American, Mexican , Thai, Greek, Mediterranean , Italian, Seafood, Asian, to name a few). I just want the least amount of stress for Darren (and Danica) and having one less thing to think about is helpful.
