In the middle of this month(january) my husband started to have some discomfort on his left side and just generally felt not good. He thought it was nothing serious and so he put it off until the following day. After a quick Dr. Google search of his symptoms I kept insisting he go to the emergency room or call the nurse hotline because I was worried it could be something more serious, like Kidney stones. He finally relented and called the 24/7 dr hotline to see what they said. They urged him to go to the emergency room. So he goes to the Methodist hospital emergency room down the street. The doctors performed a few tests, including a CT scan of his abdomen. They discovered that that he had stage 4 colon cancer and that it had already started to spread to his liver. His liver is currently full of metastatic cancer cells. As of right now his treatment plan includes 2 different types of Chemo every other week. He's very young to have developed this cancer and the doctors are hopeful that will give him a better chance at fighting this thing. Their main goal right now is to get the cancer cells shrunken down as much as possible and keep it under control.
He's on a low-no fiber diet because his stomach has slowed down on digestion. Any help or advice is welcomed. This is a really scary thing for our family and we just want to do anything we can to make him more comfortable and give him a better chance of survival and as many more years as possible.
