I have a condition called pseudotumor cerebri, where my body produces too much spinal fluid & causes intracranial hypertension, or increased pressure inside my skull, which gives me debilitating headaches. The pressure is so great, it has caused the optic nerve to swell (papilledema) and makes my vision blurry. I had a shunt placed in my lumbar spine in February 2021, to help drain the excess fluid, but the neurosurgeon has determined the shunt has failed and needs to be removed and replaced. While this should relieve the headache symptoms very quickly, it will take some time for my eyesight to regain normal functionality. I will most likely need a new eyeglasses prescription to account for the damage done by the swelling. I have been blessed with a wonderful mother, who will be staying with Josie for the week of my surgery, and she will be there to assist me when I am able to return home. Josie is involved in several after school activities my Mom will be shuttling her to & from, as well as school and church. I already live on a tight budget and I want to make the meal process easy on my Mom, while also providing her with groceries while she stays with us. I will need help with meals for a few weeks after surgery, as well.
Anyone who knows Josie, knows she does NOT eat vegetables and is a picky eater in general. We eat quite a bit of processed foods, and are looking for help with grocery items rather than meals. It allows me the ability to pick what Josie WILL eat & will result in much less food waste, as we really don't eat large portion sizes. There are no food allergies, but several food aversions.
