Meal Train for Blaine

San Antonio, TX

Story

Blaine Kirkpatrick had an episode of a possible stroke on Thursday July 31st at approximately 6am. He had slurred speech, and unable to drink without fluids pouring out of his mouth. We called 911. He normalized and didn’t go to the ER. He was normal all day Thursday. On Friday morning at 8am, in heard noise and went to check on Blaine. He couldn’t speak and was altered. He was not being cooperative to go to the ER. I called his sister who came to our apartment. and then we called 911. He was transported by ambulance to North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. They confirmed he’s had a stroke. He’s had a EEG, EKG, CT angiogram, Echocardiogram. Blaine wakes up, responds, hugs me, but doesn’t follow commands and has expressive aphasia. This means he seems he wants to talk but can’t get the words out. We’ve had to escalate because he still hasn’t gotten an MRI. I’m trying to get help so I can go take care of Sadie, our dog. Sadie is blind and needs to be fed and taken out to potty. I haven’t been home since around 3pm yesterday. Saturday 8/1/25: the hospitalist has seen him and Speech Therapy came in. He’s been cleared for a regular diet. He just now went for his MRI. We don’t have insurance or a source of income now as Blaine is self employed and I’ve been on worker’s comp. My worker’s compensation adjuster also notified me that my worker’s compensation is ending. However I’m unable to work the previous job I was doing and now Blaine needs continuous care. We would greatly appreciate any assistance our friends and family are called to help.
