Help Morgan, Dan, & Elizabeth

Oakland, CA

Story

Thanks to all for your support / encouragement through our journey here, and thank you so much for your interest in helping with the arrival of our little one! It really means the world to us, and we’ve put together this ‘meal train plus’ website for local and long-distance folks alike to make it easier to organize meals/support in this new era as we welcome baby home. Quarantine complicates things, but there are still ways to help--with food, groceries, baby needs, and your loving care and connection! You can use the Calendar (below) to sign up for a meal train or other support/visits. Giftcards to DoorDash, Amazon, and Instacart are also very appreciated. Giftcards may be sent using the Wishlist on this page or emailed to [email protected]. Our preferred house cleaners are Lotus Cleaners at https://lotuscleaningservices.com/house-cleaning-gift-certificates/. We will update this page as needs and circumstances change, but--of course--one of the greatest gifts is time with you! ^_^. We can't wait for you to meet the newest member of our family soon, and we're happy to set up phone/video calls--and distanced check-ins--so folks can meet Elizabeth. Just know that mom/dad may be tired--and Morgan/Baby will be recovering from delivery--so we appreciate your willingness to work with feeding and sleep schedules as we learn to be a family <3

Special Notes

Dietary: Dan and Morgan love ALL the delicious foods! They are fond of vegetables, but aren't vegetarian. M is semi-lactose intolerant, so it's best to avoid plain cow's milk/cheese, ice cream, or yoghurt. However, Greek yoghurt, butter, non-cow's milk cheeses, and alternative (ultra-pasteurized) milks like Fairlife, A2, or Organic Valley Ultra are all beloved / safe. M also has a genetic variant that makes processing folid acid challenging. Whole grains, organic flours, or gluten-free items are preferred (though enriched items are okay in small quantities / as indulgences). Favorite Meals/Restaurants: Sukho Thai; Jong Ga House, Bowl'd, Daol Tofu, Koja Kitchen; poke; chicken pho; tonkotsu ramen; Ethiopian - Ensarro or Cafe Romanat veggie combo; naan w/ vegetarian dishes + chicken tikka masala; Mexican - al pastor, carnitas, and chicken tinga; soups and bone broths; pulled pork; dishes that freeze well; biscuits or cornbread to jazz up soups; the Livermore Press cafe, Grand Lake Kitchen, etc; anything batch / with leftovers; anything protein/nutrient-dense and easy to snack on or eat with one hand Preferred Spice Level: Mild to Medium Least Favorite Meals: anything with hard-boiled eggs or blue cheese; anything heavy on cheese/carbs/frying Favorite Treats: fruit, fruit pie, frozen cookie dough, mango sticky rice, chocolate cake w/ no icing, soft scones, a nice chocolate bar, chia pudding, chai, decaf frappuccino, vietnamese iced coffee w extra condensed milk Visiting: To get to the house, go through the gate labeled "5944" (just past the garage to your left) and walk down the stairs (past succulent gardens). If you want to chat while you visit, please call ahead to Dan at 540.737.8236 to coordinate--and be ready to wear a mask and maintain physical distance. Some delivered meals may need to be drop-off only, but a cooler/freezer will be set up by the main door or side porch. Otherwise, we have great gardens to enjoy while connecting, and can also do glass door visits :) We know the pandemic makes things trickier to navigate, so a big thank you for reaching out--including inviting us to things and connecting with us at home or online. Especially now, we want to make sure everyone feels included, that we stay connected, and to help our little quarantine baby learn to love community as much as we do ^_^
