Can you imagine what you would feel like when you learn your routine mammogram had led to a repeat mammogram, a biopsy a few days later and then a diagnosis no one ever wants. Of all times, this is the news Jeanie received 2 weeks prior to her son Tyler’s wedding. So many appointments, so much information. Surgeon, Oncologist, Radiation provider, genetic testing and then surgery. Then a second surgery 2 weeks later because of the pathology report. And it’s not over. Radiation is next, and at a minimum, taking an oral chemo drug daily for the next 5 years. Depending on the pending pathology report, may need chemo as well. How quickly life can change, all while still trying to work and care for her family. Cancer isn’t just physically draining, but also emotionally. It’s all the unknowns, the plan that keeps changing, the uncertainty. If you know Jeanie, you know that asking for help is probably one of the hardest things she could ever do. She is the person who is always there for everyone else—the one who gives, encourages, loves, and somehow finds a way to bring light to everyone around her. But right now, Jeanie needs us. She is walking through an incredibly difficult and stressful season as she fights breast cancer and focuses on her treatment, healing, and recovery. Her faith is strong, her determination is unwavering, and she is fighting this with everything she has.
