Support for Roy Smith of Summit, NJ

Mt. Tabor, NJ

W
Story

Roy Smith, a lifelong athlete and professional personal trainer who lives in Summit, New Jersey, recently awoke unable to stand or walk a day after completing a 20-mile bicycle training ride. Friends took him to the emergency room, where he was admitted to the hospital. After testing, doctors discovered what is believed to be Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer. Roy has since been released from the hospital and will soon begin treatment. Roy has been self-employed and does not have health insurance. Because he is currently unable to work, his sister Kelli and several of Roy’s friends are helping him apply for Social Security, Medicaid, and other programs that may provide support during this time. Please keep Kelli and Roy in your thoughts as they work through the many medical, financial, and logistical challenges ahead. We will share updates as appropriate.

Special Notes

Many friends have asked how they can support Roy. Some have already begun sending messages of encouragement, Walmart, Visa, and ShopRite gift cards, and contributions toward Roy’s rent and day-to-day expenses. Because Roy cannot easily access his mail, cards may be sent to: Kelli Karen Smith c/o Jean Embler P.O. Box 508 Mt. Tabor, NJ 07878
