Meal train for the Kings

forest city, NC

Story

On April 18th, Vergil King went to the hospital with jaundice, congestive heart failure, a mass in his pancreas, and a blockage in his stomach. He was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional that night and has been kept up in the ICU since. He had a stent put in his common bile duct and had a cell sample of the mass in his surgery at Spartanburg (That sample was lost). Dad stayed on a ventilator, he has been getting dialysis and also received blood transfusions. He is not stable enough to go under for another surgery, but the doctors believe with how the mass came about and how it’s affecting his body, that he has pancreatic cancer and on-top of that he has another obstruction in his stomach. On May 3rd, the doctors told us that he doesn’t have but less than a month left with us. Unexpected, heartbreaking and painful to go through as a family. He is truly a vital part of our family, and he has always been my biggest fan. We will be attempting to spend as much time as we can with him. We appreciate anything and everything given, all the prayers and well wishes.
