Elizabeth Parker Orr was born 5/29/26. She was diagnosed in March with Caudal regression syndrome/CRS & delivered a month early due to complications. CRS is a congenital anomaly that occurs when the spine fails to completely form during the embryo stage. Cases range from mild to severe where some babies have no/fused lower limbs & severe cognitive disabilities. While ultrasound can give some expectations, nothing is certain until after birth, further testing, and as they progress through milestones. PERFECT Parker physically looks much better than we had prepared for. I believe she only has 2 sacral vertebrae so her lower body will be much smaller as she grows. Her lower limbs are normal & the MD'S said she won't be paralyzed however she does have some anatomical defects which can be fixed with future surgeries. Her main issues are internal. Her esophagus was not attached to her stomach so she had her first surgery at 2 days old to correct that issue & a temporary colostomy. She's done well & is still recovering. Main concern now is her heart. Her aorta is narrowed & she's having some issues with circulation etc. We are unsure of how long she may be in the NICU & she will continue to have many MD visits & hospital stays as we navigate through her diagnosis. While dad returned to work this week, Mom will be off work for the foreseeable future. Both are traveling to & from the hospital frequently while also trying to make time for Parkers big sister Kori. This has caused more stress due to the financial burden of just one income and increased gas prices. Anything to help ease some of that stress would be greatly appreciated.
