We just lost our sweet Jessa “Quick” Torvik. Wednesday morning, doctors confirmed that she is officially brain dead following cardiac arrest caused by a pulmonary embolism. It is one of the hardest things to say, and it feels unbearably unfair. Jessa had everything to live for: her four wonderful children—Kaia, Anderson, Desmond, and Freya—her loving husband, Brett, and her close-knit Quick family: her father Jim, her brother Jeff, her uncle Dave and aunt, along with so many amazing friends. She had only just lost her mom, Jill Quick, in February… and now we are grieving Jessa as well.
