Jair’s story

Story

Hi, my name is Missy, and I’m a single mom to four amazing kids. My youngest, Jair, is just 2 years old. He’s full of energy, he loves Toy Story and Mickey, and he lights up every room with his smile. But behind that smile, Jair has been fighting something really tough. He was born with a condition called hydronephrosis, which means his kidneys don’t drain the way they should. His left kidney is level 5 (the most severe stage) and his right kidney is level 3. Because of this, he’s been in and out of the hospital for tests, treatments, and constant monitoring since he was tiny. It’s hard to put into words what it feels like watching your baby go through so much. I try to stay strong for Jair and his siblings, but the truth is—it’s overwhelming. The constant hospital visits make it nearly impossible for me to hold down steady work, and while I do have some support from family, it’s not always enough. I’m doing my best to give my kids everything they need, but some days it feels like I’m just barely keeping my head above water. I don’t like asking for help, but right now I could really use it—to make things just a little easier for us while I focus on Jair’s health and caring for my family.
