Supporting Dardo & Family

San Antonio, TX

W
Story

Hello family and friends, Saturday morning (6/10/23) my dad suffered a massive heart attack while on his usual Saturday bicycle route. My dad noticed the signs, got off his bike and located the nearest 911 Locator Point on his trail. A bystander called 911 and, when he collapsed, a Good Samaritan started CPR until EMS arrived. His heart recovered the attack but his brain suffered from a lack of oxygen. Doctors diagnosed him with severe anoxic brain injury. Dardo's Will stated that he did not want to be on life support and he wished to donate his organs. After several days of discernment, at sunrise on Wednesday morning 6/21, we honored Dardo’s wishes and took him off life support and donated his organs and tissue so others may have a chance to live. We celebrated his life with an emotional and uplifting Walk of Honor as his friends and family lined the hospital hallways before going to the OR. Medardo was reborn into the kingdom of God at 6:57am on June 21, 2023. May God bless you all, and may perpetual light shine upon Dardo’s soul!
