Support Collin Long’s Recovery

Story

For anyone who doesn’t know, my 20 year old son, Collin, suffered a traumatic brain injury on July 30 when the John Deere Gator that he was a passenger in crashed. He and his coworker, Liam, were both air lifted to UAB where he was treated for a compound fracture in his right leg, a fractured temporal bone in his jaw, and the fractured portion of his skull was removed. After two weeks in ICU, he was transferred to an inpatient rehab facility in Jacksonville, Florida. There he did very well with his rehab despite having a lung infection that landed him back in the hospital with a chest tube for a week. On September 16, he was released from inpatient rehab and we moved over to a hospitality house so that he can continue his recovery in an outpatient setting. We do not know how long we will be here, but the average patient stay is 10-12 weeks. Prayerfully, we will not have to stay that long as we are both beyond ready to get home to his younger brother who is in Auburn. This has been hard, to say the least; however, we know that Collin’s recovery is a miracle and give all glory to God for that. Another miracle in the story is the amount of support and love that people have shown and continue to show to us. We are blessed beyond measure. Thank you for reading and thank you for caring about us. Amy Long
