Supporting the Guerriero Family Through Jennifer's Breast Cancer Journey

Needham, MA

W
Story

Jennifer was recently diagnosed with high-grade, early-stage, hormone receptor positive, breast cancer after a routine annual mammogram. Remarkably, her mammogram just one year earlier was completely normal. Because it was detected early, her prognosis is excellent, and she will undergo a double mastectomy in the coming weeks. As many of you know, Jenn leads a breast cancer research program at Brigham and Women's Hospital / Harvard Medical school and has dedicated her career to advancing breast cancer research and developing new immunotherapies for breast cancer patients. Now, she unexpectedly finds herself on the other side—as the patient. While the road ahead is very treatable, recovery will take time, and balancing surgery, healing, work, and caring for her family will be a challenge. This page was created to make it easy for friends, family, and colleagues to support Jenn, Jason, Michael, Johnny, and Gabby during this time. The most helpful support includes meals, restaurant or grocery gift cards, help with errands, and messages of encouragement. Every act of kindness—big or small—will help ease the daily load on the Guerriero family as Jenn focuses on healing. Several friends and colleagues have asked if there are other ways to support Jenn. In lieu of gifts, those who wish may also make a donation to support her breast cancer research laboratory, helping continue the work she has dedicated her career to advancing. Please click the "donate" button on her lab webpage: https://guerrierolab.bwh.harvard.edu/ Thank you for surrounding the Guerrieros with love, support, and encouragement during this chapter. They are deeply grateful for this incredible community. -Courtney Giuliano 603-674-1806

Special Notes

Jenn has celiac disease, so all food for her must be strictly gluten-free, including avoiding cross-contamination during preparation (separate utensils, cutting boards, toasters, etc.). If you're unsure, restaurant gift cards or delivery from restaurants with reliable gluten-free practices are always appreciated. Meals that freeze or reheat well are especially helpful, as the Guerrieros' schedule may vary during Jenn's recovery. Michael and Johnny are also a little picky, so if you're including food for them, simple "kid food" like chicken tenders, mac and cheese, pizza, burgers, pasta, or tacos is always a hit. Please don't worry if no one is able to answer the door—they may be resting or at an appointment, so porch drop-offs are always welcome. Whether it's a meal, a gift card, running an errand, or simply a kind message, your support means more to the Guerriero family than words can express. Thank you for helping surround Jenn and her family with love and support during this time. ❤️
