After welcoming her sweet new baby through a beautiful home birth, Shan is beginning the important work of resting, healing, and adjusting to life with a newborn +3. This is a special time, but recovery also requires plenty of nourishment, support, and care. We are asking friends and loved ones to surround her with encouragement by providing healthy meals for her family. A nourishing meal is a simple but meaningful way to help her focus on healing, bonding with her baby, and settling into this new season without worrying about cooking. Thank you for helping us show her how loved and supported she is during her postpartum recovery.
Homemade meals made with love are especially appreciated during this postpartum season. We are hoping to provide Shan with fresh, wholesome, nutrient-dense foods that support healing, recovery, and energy while she cares for her new baby. Great options include homemade soups and stews, baked or roasted chicken, turkey, beef, fish, eggs, beans, lentils, cooked vegetables, fresh fruit, salads, sweet potatoes, rice, quinoa, oatmeal, and whole-grain dishes. Healthy fats such as avocado, nuts, seeds, olive oil, and nut butters are also wonderful additions. Breakfast casseroles, oatmeal bakes, homemade muffins, rice or grain bowls, chili, casseroles filled with vegetables and protein, and slow-cooker meals are all helpful. Fresh, easy-to-grab snacks such as fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs, vegetables with hummus, cheese, nuts, or homemade energy bites are appreciated too. Please prioritize meals prepared with whole, minimally processed ingredients whenever possible. We kindly ask that highly processed, heavily fried, sugary, or prepackaged snack foods be limited. Meals that are easy to reheat, freeze, or enjoy as leftovers are especially helpful. Thank you for nourishing Mom and her family with healthy food, care, and love.
