Living Healed w/ The Johannes Family

Story

Hi friends and family! This Give in Kind campaign is your one stop, shop for updates on the Johannes family as they navigate Aja’s new diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer in her liver. Aja’s new diagnosis came in early September 2025 after completing chemotherapy, surgery and radiation to treat stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma and being “cancer free,” all summer. Aja was diagnosed with triple negative, stage four breast cancer that metastasized into her liver and in some spots along her skeleton. After starting a new treatment regimen in August 2025, Aja went on to have a remarkable response to treatment. Her December 2025 scan showed no active disease and dead or dormant disease “scars” where the liver had previously been rampant with disease. Due to the fact that Aja’s monthly blood draws did not show signs of new or progressing disease, part of Aja’s treatment plan requires her to get pet scans every 3-4 months to monitor what the cancer is doing and what affects treatment has had on the cancer. Aja had a routine Pet Scan in early February 2026. That scan showed new disease in the liver, her pelvis, and possibly new disease in her right lung. This is classified as disease progression on treatment-which means that the treatment that had controlled the cancer previously is no longer working. As of March 1, Aja will begin a new treatment program. She will have a CT guided Liver Biopsy and CT guided deep bone biopsy the week of 3/1/26. Aja’s oncologist wants to start Tredovy infusions asap, which means that Aja will likely have her first infusion the same week. Aja will also do another round of radiation to her right hip where she is experiencing pain associated with metastases in her hip. Aja’s cancer has responded very well to radiation. Due to the nature of Aja’s cancer, the treatment plan is no longer seeking to cure cancer but to control it. Aja will be getting Tredovy infusions indefinitely, as long as it works to control the cancer. Additionally, Aja may be a candidate for clinical trials. She and Ian are connecting with MD Anderson in Houston, TX currently to see what may be available to Aja. This would require Aja to travel to Houston and remain there through the duration of the clinical trial if any are available to her. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. If you have questions or need to connect with the Johannes family, please feel free to email Ian at [email protected] or if you have his phone number you’re welcome to reach him via text or phone call.
