Brenda has a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. To so many of us, she is not just a friend—she is the friend who shows up, listens without judgment, offers encouragement when it's needed most, and brings light wherever she goes. Her kindness touches everyone she meets. If there is anything greater than Brenda's kindness, it is her strength. Over the years, she has faced extraordinary challenges, including a liver transplant, years of immunosuppression during the pandemic, and double hip surgery. Through it all, she has met each obstacle with remarkable grace, resilience, and an unwavering smile. Now, she is facing breast cancer with that same courage. As Brenda begins chemotherapy and continues through the months of treatment ahead, we want to surround her with the same love, care, and support that she has so generously given to others. Her treatment is expected to continue from July through December. As chemotherapy progresses, fatigue and other side effects are expected to increase. There are many ways to help lighten the load during this time, including providing meals, helping with grocery runs, arranging cleaning services, accompanying her during chemotherapy appointments, driving her to lab visits, or simply spending time with her and offering encouragement. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference. We have also included a GoFundMe to help offset some of the expenses associated with treatment, including cold cap therapy and other related costs. Brenda's chemotherapy appointments are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Visitors are welcome during treatment. Please refer to the calendar for specific appointment dates. Brenda receives chemotherapy on a 21-day treatment cycle. The day before each infusion is typically spent preparing for a full day at the clinic. On treatment days, visits, encouraging messages, and meal deliveries are greatly appreciated. The days are long and visitors help pass the time and lift her spirits. Chemo side effects typically onset 1-3 days after treatment and may become more challenging as chemotherapy progresses; this is when she needs additional care and support. Additional support before, during, and after each treatment cycle can make a meaningful difference. Whether it's providing a meal, running an errand, offering transportation, or simply checking in, every act of kindness is deeply appreciated. Following chemo treatment, she will have some recovery time and then be scheduled for surgery. Surgery is expected to have a 4-6 week recovery time.
