In late June, Ruth was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since then, life has changed quickly. On July 11, she and Jimbo traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where they have been ever since. There is good news—and we're holding onto every bit of it. The cancer was caught early and is localized to the pancreas. They have tremendous confidence in their doctor and the care team, and that gives us all hope. Their doctor shared what he believes are the five essentials for fighting cancer: 1) A good partner. 2) A strong support system (that's all of you—thank you for being here). 3) The right treatment... 4) ...At the right place. 5) Faith. When Ruth and Jimbo told him they had all five, he smiled and gave them a high five. It was a simple moment, but one that reminded them they are not facing this journey alone. The road ahead won't be easy. There will be hard days, difficult decisions, and a long year of treatment and recovery. But one thing is certain: Ruthie, Jimbo, Stella, and Henry will be surrounded by people who love them. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your prayers, encouragement, and support. Every message, every kind word, every act of generosity, and every prayer helps carry them through. Together, we'll continue reminding Ruthie that she is deeply loved, fiercely supported, and never alone in this fight. If you'd like to follow along with their journey or learn more about the diagnosis, please see the updates below.
